When wood becomes a rebel..

Why is all the wood I’m current using fighting against me? All most finished the second of the frame for the dinning table I’m working on, doing a dry fit with the wood pins when I hear a might crack. The whole of one side has cracked. I could fix and glue it back, but it will look very ugly, plus I’ll always know it’s there. Lucky enough I have a spare length to make a new leg. Only two new mortises to do and we are back in business.

What can I learn from this? These things happen. I’m sure the most experienced cabinet marker has had things like this happen. Good thing it wasn’t all glued up!
